DESIRÉE

“Since March 2024, Apollo and I have been partners in every sense of the word. Apollo helps me on days when I do not have much left to give to anyone, but more importantly to myself. He alerts me to when I’m not on schedule. Apollo pushes me to interact with him when I’m not mentally in the mood or space for anyone or anything. His unconditional love can only be described by the fact that dog is God spelled backwards.

I’ve been able to go to the movies and events. I’m never alone, even when I am. He’s got a lot of personality so we butt heads like siblings. He’s spunky and has a lot of energy. He is able to keep up with the ever changing flow of my life. If I’m in a work environment, he’s quiet. Doesn’t get up. Giving me the peace of knowing he’s there. He lays his head on my foot to give me the pressure I need and reassurance that I’m not alone.

Hello, my name is Desirée. I’m now a medically retired officer from IMPD.

Prior to Apollo coming to live with me, I was always on edge. I didn’t want to go places if I didn’t have to. I hated going to the store. I hated going to the movies because I would fidget. It’s dark and I would need to be in the corner. I stopped working out. I wasn’t doing the things that made me, me. Apollo has allowed me to find and get comfortable in my new normal. I’m grateful and blessed to have him giving me a healthy attachment to finding myself.” ~Desirée
